This Liverpool art print is taken from the original Liverpool Overhead Railway poster promoting cheap fares via ‘The Most Interesting Route’. The Liverpool Overhead Railway, or Dockers' Umbrella, (1893-1956) became the first electrically-worked elevated railway, the first to use an escalator, automatic signalling and a colour light system. Until its closure in 1956 the line remained independent, even from nationalisation. Artwork by Alfred Lambart.
