Alex is best known for his picture, the "Mona Lennon." He was commissioned by the North West Development Agency to produce a work that would represent Liverpool's past, present and future, but would also symbolise its aspirations. The "Mona Lennon" was unveiled at a House of Commons reception to promote Liverpool's bid to be European Capital of Culture 2008, before it was printed 80ft by 50ft using 30 gallons of ink and adorned Liverpool's St George's Hall.
