It was a tricky operation squeezing them along Water Street - just a few inches on either side. Had to replace a few damaged traffic lights and a bus shelter, but on the whole, the docking went very smoothly. Several dry docks had been excavated in advance, and the lifting gear had been brought in from Garston. A large crowd of well-wishers applauded when the last of the propellers were concreted in and the champagne bottles were broken.
